Cranked shaft and bearings of a cranked shaft

GENERAL INFORMATION

Removal of a cranked shaft

For removal of a cranked shaft it is necessary to remove the engine.
In the below-mentioned description it is supposed that necessary details are already removed according to the provided description.
The description of works is provided separately for various types of engines.

OHC ENGINE OF 2.0 L


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Merge impellent oil in capacity, having unscrewed a drain stopper.
2. Remove the pallet of a case and the oil pump as it is described in appropriate section.
3. Holding a screw-driver from a provorachivaniye a gear wreath of a flywheel, unscrew bolts of its fastening. In most cases bolts turn on a cap key without flywheel deduction. For this purpose the cap key establish at right angle to the line passing through axes of a flywheel and the turned-on bolt, and to it strike blow with a hand. For deduction of coupling use a steel plate with two drilled openings. The plate fastens flywheel bolts to coupling. Prop up the engine and unscrew bolts. Bolts at once will throw out since to use them again it is impossible. Bolts tighten on a demanded corner.
4. Similarly remove a driving disk (an automatic transmission).
5. Unscrew bolts and remove the case pallet.
6. Remove a gear belt and a head of cylinders (see the separate description).
7. In need of removal of only a cranked shaft, pistons with a rod can remain in cylinders. Otherwise they should be taken out, as is described earlier in the section the Head of cylinders and valves. If pistons with rods remain in cylinders, mark covers of rods and remove, store them together with loose leaves. Thus it is necessary for Shatunnye to replace bolts.
8. Establish the indicator at the forward party of the block of cylinders so that its measuring tip rested against an extreme neck of a cranked shaft, as is shown in иллюстр. Press a cranked shaft a screw-driver to one party and establish the indicator on a zero. Wring out a cranked shaft in other party. The indication of the indicator represents axial люфт a cranked shaft. Write down the received value. If люфт left out of the established limits, it is necessary for considering at assembly.
In the absence of the indicator люфт it can be measured shchupy on the central bearing between a flange of the bearing and the plane of a cranked shaft.
9. Mark covers of radical bearings and evenly unscrew bolts of their fastening from outer side in the direction to the internal. Remove covers. Check, that numbers of covers were well visible.
10. Remove loose leaves from necks of a cranked shaft and store them complete with the corresponding cover.
11. From one of bearings remove persistent half rings for adjustment axial люфта.
12. Carefully take out a cranked shaft from the block of cylinders. Watch to damaging a cogwheel of the sensor of number of turns if it is available.
13. Take out from the lower part of the block of cylinders the remained loose leaves and connect in one set to other half and covers. Mark loose leaves.

OHC ENGINE OF 2.4 L


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish and fix the engine at the stand.
2. Merge impellent oil in capacity, having unscrewed a drain stopper.
3. Remove a head of cylinders as it was described concerning the considered engine.
4. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of the fan with the vyazkostny coupling, as is shown in иллюстр. The C reverse side the fan is kept by a key for a shestigrannik. Details of this operation are described in appropriate section.
Attention

The bolt of fastening of the fan has the left carving.


5. Weaken a bolt (And) fastenings of the tension device of the generator on иллюстр., wring out the generator inside and remove maple a belt.
6. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of a cable of weight from a head of cylinders, wring out the generator down and remove together with an arm, having disconnected the last.
7. Unscrew a terminal bolt at the basis of the distributor of ignition and remove the distributor.
8. Unscrew a cap key a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft, holding a flywheel a screw-driver from a provorachivaniye. For deduction of a flywheel there is also special blocking.
9. Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove the pump of cooling liquid (иллюстр.).
10. Remove in the specified sequence the device of a tension of a chain of a drive of a camshaft, a case of a drive of distribution and the case pallet. If the engine is in the situation shown on иллюстр., unscrew the bolts shown by shooters.
11. Remove a kosozuby gear wheel from a shaft of the distributor of ignition.
12. Put with paint on the drive chain to the shooter specifying the direction of its rotation and remove an asterisk together with a chain.
13. Remove a stripper an asterisk of a cranked shaft. Between the persistent screw of a stripper and an end face of a cranked shaft surely put laying.
14. Mark the mutual provision of a basket of coupling and a flywheel, unscrew bolts and remove a basket. The description of dismantling of coupling is provided in appropriate section. In a flywheel will screw a lock bolt (иллюстр.). Its situation should be noted before knot dismantling.
15. Mark all covers of shatunny bearings, since figure "1" from the pump of cooling liquid.
Unscrew bolts and remove a reception pipe of the oil pump.
16. If it is necessary to remove only a cranked shaft, pistons with rods can remain in cylinders. Otherwise act in film both pistons, and rods as it is described in the section the Head of cylinders and valves. If pistons and rods remain in the block of cylinders, mark in the order of a cover of rods and remove them together with loose leaves.
17. Measure an axial gap of a cranked shaft.

DOHC ENGINE


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Fix the engine at the stand, unscrew bolts and disconnect an engine mount beam from the block of cylinders.
2. If impellent oil is not merged yet, turn out a drain stopper and merge oil in capacity.
3. Remove the pallet of a case and the oil pump as it is described in appropriate section. Thus it is necessary to take into consideration year of release of the car as after 1997 the design of the oil pump was changed.
4. At the engine from 1997 of release remove the bearing bridge and a maslootboyny leaf. The description of this work is provided separately.
5. Holding a screw-driver from a provorachivaniye a gear wreath of a flywheel, unscrew bolts of its fastening. In most cases boats turn away a cap key without flywheel deduction. For this purpose the cap key is established at right angle to the line passing through axes of a flywheel and the turned-on bolt and on it the blow is struck with a hand. For deduction of coupling the steel plate with two drilled openings is used. The plate fastens flywheel bolts to coupling. Prop up the engine and unscrew bolts. Bolts at once will throw out since to use them it is impossible. Bolts tighten with angular control.
6. Remove a gear belt and a head of cylinders (see the separate description).
7. In need of removal of only a cranked shaft, pistons with a rod can remain in cylinders. Otherwise they should be taken out, as is described in the section the Head of cylinders and valves. If pistons with rods remain in cylinders, mark covers of rods and remove, store them together with loose leaves. Thus it is necessary for Shatunnye to replace bolts.

Check of details of a cranked shaft


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Carefully check a cranked shaft on existence of damages and measure diameters of shatunny and radical necks. Shatunnye and radical necks can several times перешлифовываться then loose leaves of the reduced repair size can be used. In view of existence of various markings the choice of loose leaves is rather difficult. Therefore considered operation is best of all for executing in the conditions of a repair truck.
2. Establish a cranked shaft in the lathe centers (or in prisms pins) and check the indicator palpation of an average radical neck. Palpation should not exceed 0.03 mm. In case of excess of the specified size the cranked shaft is replaced. In case of lack of the indicator the cranked shaft can be laid with well cleared loose leaves in the block of cylinders and to measure palpation of an average neck by the indicator (see иллюстр.).
3a. Measure gaps of radical and shatunny bearings:
– Carefully clear loose leaves and establish them in beds of the block of cylinders or rods.
– Lay pieces of a plastic wire of "Plastigage" on all radical necks, as is shown in иллюстр. 3а, also close necks covers of bearings with loose leaves.
Tighten bolts of fastening of covers the established moment. Thus it is not necessary to turn a cranked shaft.
3b. – For control of gaps in shatunny bearings establish rods on necks of a cranked shaft and from above lay pieces of a plastic wire of "Plastigage". Close necks covers of rods and tighten the established moment of a nut of fastening. The provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft is thus inadmissible. Therefore measurement is carried out only for two shatunny necks being in NMT.
– Unscrew bolts of fastening of covers of radical bearings and shatunny bolts.
– By means of the calibre entering into a set of "Plastigage" measure the maximum thickness of the flattened-out wire (иллюстр. 3b). If the received size "Plastigage" leaves out of the established limits, it is necessary to establish new loose leaves 3подшипников. Thus it is necessary to reveal, whether were ground before a shaft neck.
– Turn a cranked shaft and measure a gap in bearings of two other shatunny necks.

Installation of a cranked shaft


OHC 2.0 ENGINE


If the cogwheel of the VMT sensor of a cranked shaft acted in film, it is necessary to establish it on a place and to fix bolts the moment of 13 Nanometers (from the middle of 1995 of release).

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. At the established manual transmission, if necessary, replace directing bearing at an end face of a cranked shaft.
2. Wipe beds of bearings in the block of cylinders and lay in them according to marking loose leaves so that ledges of loose leaves entered into grooves of beds. If the block of cylinders came after polishing, new loose leaves are in most cases established.
They also should be marked. Loose leaves before laying plentifully oil.
3. Establish into place in the block of cylinders both persistent half rings. Lubricant flutes should be turned towards the block.
4. Carefully lay a cranked shaft in radical bearings. If pistons with rods are in the block of cylinders, carefully direct rods on shatunny necks of a cranked shaft.
5. Establish loose leaves in covers of radical bearings (ledges in grooves) and plentifully grease them.
6. Establish covers of bearings in nests of the block of cylinders and обстучите their rubber hammer. Covers should be established according to marking. Besides, the internal surface of forward and back covers outside, on the right and at the left should be greased with hermetic, as is shown in иллюстр. The surfaces shown by shooters are greased only. On outer sides of both covers there are flutes. They are filled with hermetic.

Instruction

After installation of covers once again press from above hermetic so that he acted from grooves.


7. Tighten new bolts of fastening of covers from the center to edges in the sequence shown on иллюстр. for some receptions by the moment of 50 Nanometers. After an inhaling for the set moment replace a dinamometrichesky key with the lever and tighten bolts on a corner 40 ° – 50 °. The illustration belongs to engines of all types.
8. After installation of covers fill with sample hermetic on the right and to the left of the first cover so that hermetic acted in places of contact to the block of cylinders (see the instruction above).
9. Turn several times a cranked shaft, having revealed possible jammings.
10. Once again check an axial gap as it was described at removal of a cranked shaft (see иллюстр. 8).
11. Establish shatunno-piston group as it was described above.
12. Establish both epiploons.
13. Establish a cogwheel with a shponka.
14. Put on a gear belt as it is described in the Section a camshaft Drive.
15. Establish a flywheel (see the corresponding subsection) and fix it bolts. For deduction of a cranked shaft from a provorachivaniye insert wooden whetstone between a neck of a cranked shaft and a wall of the block of cylinders or hold a cranked shaft from a provorachivaniye otherwise (иллюстр., for all engines).
16. According to marking establish coupling on a flywheel. Align as appropriate conducted disk of coupling. Evenly cross-wise tighten fastening bolts.
17. Establish the oil pump (see. The Work section with greasing system on the engine of 2.4 l).
18. Establish the case pallet, screw a drain stopper and tighten it the moment of 55 Nanometers. Now, if necessary, it is possible to fill in impellent oil in the engine.
19. Other details establish in sequence, return to removal.

THE OHC ENGINE OF 2.0 L FROM THE MIDDLE OF 1995. RELEASE

Installation of a cranked shaft in this case is carried out to similarly provided description taking into account the following:

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Fill flutes on outer side of a back cover of the radical bearing with hermetic. After installation of a cover enter from above hermetic once again so that he acted from a groove. The places shown on иллюстр., at the engine with hermetic any more are not greased.
2. Bolts of fastening of covers of radical bearings tighten the moment of 50 Nanometers and from this situation tighten on a corner 45 ° and then for 15 °. It is for this purpose expedient to use the graduated scale, as is shown in иллюстр.
3. Establish the bearing bridge and a maslootboyny leaf as it is described in the section "Greasing system".
4. Establish the oil pump and the case pallet as it is described in the corresponding subsection.
5. Fix on the eye engine, tighten bolts the moment of 60 Nanometers.
6. Screw and tighten a drain stopper the moment of 45 Nanometers

OHC ENGINE OF 2.4 L

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Wipe beds of bearings in the block of cylinders and lay in them according to marking loose leaves so that ledges of loose leaves entered into grooves of beds. If the block of cylinders came after polishing, new loose leaves are in most cases established. They also should be marked. Loose leaves before laying plentifully oil.
2. Carefully lay a cranked shaft in radical bearings. If pistons with rods are in the block of cylinders, carefully direct rods on shatunny necks of a cranked shaft.
3. Establish loose leaves in covers of radical bearings (ledges in grooves) and plentifully grease them.
4. Establish covers of bearings in nests of the block of cylinders and обстучите their rubber hammer. Covers should be established according to marking. Besides, the internal surface of forward and back covers outside, on the right and at the left should be greased with hermetic, as is shown in иллюстр. The surfaces shown by shooters are greased only. On outer sides of both covers there are flutes (width about 6 mm). They are filled with hermetic.

Instruction

After installation of covers once again press from above hermetic so that he acted from grooves.


5. Tighten by hand bolts of fastening of covers of radical bearings from the middle to edges in the sequence shown on иллюстр. Before a final inhaling establish an epiploon of the back bearing as it is described in separate subsection. After that tighten bolts for some receptions in the established sequence the moment of 110 Nanometers.
6. After installation of covers fill with sample hermetic on the right and to the left of the first cover so that hermetic acted in places of contact to the block of cylinders (see the instruction above).
7. Turn several times a cranked shaft, having revealed possible jammings.
8. Once again check an axial gap as it was described at removal of a cranked shaft (see also иллюстр. point 5 here). For this engine the axial gap should not exceed 0.152 mm.
9. Establish shatunno-piston group as it is described above.
10. Establish a flywheel, having paid attention to the provision of a fixing bolt and tighten bolts by hand. Holding a gear wreath of a flywheel from a provorachivaniye, evenly tighten bolts of fastening the moment of 60 Nanometers.
11. Establish coupling as it is described in appropriate section.
12. Napressuyte an asterisk by means of a pipe (1) as it is shown on иллюстр. on a cranked shaft against the stop.
13. Establish one after another the following parts: a driving chain, a chain casing, the pump of cooling liquid, a pulley, the fan with the vyazkostny coupling. The description of the specified works is provided separately.
14. In specified below sequence establish the following parts: the pallet of a case, a head of cylinders, the ignition distributor, the generator, the compressor (in the presence of the conditioner). Details of installation are described in the following sections.
15. Other parts establish in sequence, return to their removal.

DOHC ENGINE


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If the cogwheel of the VMT sensor of a cranked shaft acted in film, it is necessary to establish it on a place and to fix bolts the moment of 13 Nanometers (from the middle of 1995 of release).

5. Carefully lay a cranked shaft in radical bearings. If pistons with rods are in the block of cylinders, carefully direct rods on shatunny necks of a cranked shaft.
6. Establish loose leaves in covers of radical bearings (ledges in grooves) and plentifully grease them.
7. Establish covers of bearings in nests of the block of cylinders and обстучите their rubber hammer. Covers should be established according to marking. Besides, the internal surface of forward and back covers outside, on the right and at the left should be greased with hermetic, as is shown in иллюстр. The surfaces shown by shooters are greased only. On outer sides of both covers there are flutes. They are filled with hermetic.

Instruction

After installation of covers once again press from above hermetic so that he acted from grooves.


8. Tighten new bolts of fastening of covers from the center to edges in the sequence shown on иллюстр., for some receptions by the moment of 50 Nanometers. After an inhaling for the set moment replace a dinamometrichesky key with the lever and tighten bolts on a corner 45 °. In summary tighten all bolts once again on a corner 15 °.
9. After installation of covers fill with sample hermetic on the right and to the left of the first cover so that hermetic acted in places of contact to the block of cylinders (see the instruction above).
10. Turn several times a cranked shaft for identification of possible jammings.
11. Once again check an axial gap as it was described at removal of a cranked shaft (see also иллюстр. 8).
12. Establish shatunno-piston group as it was described above. Covers tighten the moment of 35 Nanometers and then tighten on a corner 45 ° and once again on a corner 15 °. Application of the graduated washer, as is shown in иллюстр is for this purpose recommended.
13. Establish both epiploons (see below).
14. Establish a cogwheel with a shponka.
15. Put on a gear belt as it is described in the Section a camshaft Drive.
16. Establish a flywheel (see the corresponding subsection) and fix it bolts. For deduction of a cranked shaft from a provorachivaniye insert wooden whetstone between a neck of a cranked shaft and a wall of the block of cylinders or hold a cranked shaft from a provorachivaniye otherwise (иллюстр., for all engines).
17. According to marking establish coupling on a flywheel. Align as appropriate conducted disk of coupling. Evenly cross-wise tighten fastening bolts.
18. For engines since 1997 of release establish the bearing bridge and a maslootboyny leaf. The specified works are described in the Section "Greasing system".
19. Establish the oil pump (see the Work section with greasing system on the engine of 2.4 l).
20. Establish the case pallet, screw a drain stopper and tighten it the moment of 45 Nanometers. Now, if necessary, it is possible to fill in impellent oil in the engine.
21. Other details establish in sequence, return to removal.

Epiploons of a cranked shaft

OHC AND DOHC ENGINES OF 2.0 L


After each removal of a cranked shaft forward and back epiploons should be replaced with the new. The special tool for this purpose is not required. Epiploons can be replaced without engine removal if in their area the oil leak is found.
The leak of a back epiploon can be, for example, the reason of pro-slipping of coupling. The forward epiploon is in the case of the oil pump.

Removal of epiploons


For all engines the general instructions operate. Replacement of a forward epiploon is connected with removal of the case of the oil pump since exactly the epiploon there is located. The corresponding instructions are provided in the Section "Greasing system".

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For removal of a forward epiploon by a sharp opravka punch an opening in a metal ring of an epiploon, screw there саморез and pull out an epiploon flat-nose pliers as it is shown on иллюстр. All epiploons in this way can act in film.
2. For removal of a back epiploon it is necessary to remove a transmission, coupling and a flywheel. The epiploon acts in film in the way described above with the help самореза (see иллюстр. point 1 here). Watch to damaging the block of cylinders.

Installation of epiploons


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Grease a working edge and an external surface of an epiploon with greasing and carefully press an epiploon aflush with the external plane. It is possible to use the piece of a pipe established on external perimeter of an epiploon and clamped from above by a washer. Thus the epiploon can be pressed a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft.
2. Further it is necessary to operate according to the description of installation of the oil pump.
3. The back epiploon is pressed carefully by means of a hammer. Watch to damaging a working surface of an epiploon. Working and external surfaces oil or greasing. The epiploon by means of a piece of a pipe of the corresponding diameter aflush with the external plane is pressed. Other parts are established in sequence, return to removal (a flywheel, coupling etc.)

OHC ENGINE OF 2.4 L


At this engine the forward epiploon is in a cover of the case of the mechanism of a drive of distribution, the back epiploon is in a back cover.

Replacement of a forward epiploon


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a weight cable from the storage battery.
2. Remove a casing of the fan and hang up under a krylchatka.
3. Remove the fan with the vyazkostny coupling. The bolt of its fastening has the left carving (see. Head of System of cooling and heating).
4. Remove maple a belt of a drive of the oil pump of the generator as it is described in the corresponding subsections. For weakening of a tension of a belt weaken the tension device.
5. Remove a wheel of a cranked shaft, holding a shaft from a provorachivaniye (include transfer).
6. Remove a forward epiploon (1) by means of a screw-driver (2) from a cover of a drive of a camshaft, as is shown in иллюстр.
7. Grease with konsistentny greasing a working surface of an epiploon and впрессуйте it against the stop in a cover. For this purpose there is a special tool. It is possible to use also a piece of a pipe (1) corresponding diameter, a washer and a bolt, as is shown in иллюстр.
8. Establish a pulley of a cranked shaft and, holding a pulley from a provorachivaniye, tighten a bolt of its fastening the moment of 120 Nanometers.
9. Establish and pull maple a belt of a drive of the generator and the oil pump.
10. Establish the fan with the vyazkostny coupling (see the separate description).
11. Establish a casing of the fan and connect the storage battery.

Replacement of a back epiploon


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a transmission (see appropriate section).
2. Mark the provision of a directing bolt in a flywheel (it is designated by the letter "R"). Holding a flywheel from a provorachivaniye (see иллюстр.), unscrew bolts of fastening of a flywheel. Remove a flywheel.

3. Punch a sharp opravka an opening in an epiploon, screw in it саморез and pull out an epiploon, as is shown in иллюстр.
4. Grease with konsistentny greasing external and working surfaces of an epiploon and insert it into an opening, as is shown in иллюстр. Press an epiploon an opravka against the stop.
5. Establish and fix a flywheel, having paid attention to the provision of a directing bolt. Evenly on a circle press out bolts the moment of 60 Nanometers.
6. Establish coupling and a transmission.

Flywheel


The flywheel of considered engines fastens bolts directly to a back flange of a cranked shaft.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For removal of a flywheel block it a screw-driver inserted into a gear wreath or by means of a doggie.
