Brake mechanism of back wheels

GENERAL INFORMATION

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF THE BRAKE DRUM

Here too it is necessary to mean that the material of brake shoes contains asbestos.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift and establish on supports a back part of the car.
2. Unscrew nuts and remove wheels.
3. Release the parking brake.
4. Unscrew a screw-driver the screw of fastening of a brake drum and remove a drum. If the drum does not manage to be removed at once, squeeze out a stopper from a reverse side of a brake board, insert into an opening a screw-driver before contact with the lever of the parking brake.
5. Press the lever, having rested it against a brake shoe so that blocks departed from a drum. Probably, it is required to separate a brake drive around the equalizer.
6. Clear a brake of dirt (do not apply for this purpose compressed air - see above). Brake drums if necessary can be ground.
7. The sizes of a drum are specified in Specifications. The main defect of a drum is an ovality of its working surface. In the presence of ovality the dense prileganiye of brake shoes that leads to decrease in efficiency of braking is excluded. Ovality is eliminated with boring.

Installation

Before installation of drums it is necessary to check ease of a course of the mechanism of adjustment. If it rotates with jamming, it is necessary to remove brake shoes, having provided access and possibility of check of the mechanism.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Smooth out a skin interfaced surfaces of drums (internal surfaces) and naves of wheels.
2. Establish drums on a place and обстучите their rubber hammer so that it was possible to insert the screw.
3. Tighten the screw the moment of 4 Nanometers.
4. After installation of drums press 20-25 times a brake pedal for mechanism installation into position. Installation of the mechanism of adjustment is into position accompanied by click.
5. If the cable of a drive of the parking brake was disconnected from the equalizer, move the lever of the parking brake on two teeth and adjust cables on the equalizer so that brake shoes at a provorachivaniye of drums slightly concerned them.
6. After that release a brake and check, that drums were freely turned.

REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE SHOES

Brake shoes are replaced in pair even if one of them outwardly has no defects. For possibility of definition of degree of wear of brake shoes brake drums act in film in the way described above. The thickness of new brake slips makes 5 mm, the minimum thickness is equal to 1 mm.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift and establish on supports a back part of the car.
2. Unscrew nuts and remove wheels.
3. Under forward wheels enclose an emphasis.
4. Remove brake drums.
5. Examine brakes and wipe them a damp rag.
6. Press a finger from a reverse side anchor pins and compress flat-nose pliers a spring plate, as shown.
7. Press inside a plate and turn so that through a spring plate it was possible to carry out a pin head.
8. Remove a spring plate, a spring and a pin. The described work is carried out on both wheels. Removal of a spring (2) is shown on an illustration. Take out a pin (3) from a reverse side of a brake board.
9. Wring out to the center a screw-driver the lever of a drive of the parking brake so that it was possible to disconnect a cable.
10. Unhook nippers one end of the top spring, as shown.
11. Wring out outside a screw-driver a brake shoe, as shown - so that it was possible to take out the adjustment mechanism. Thus it is necessary to remove a vertical spring also. Watch to damaging a protective cap of the wheel cylinder.
12. Unhook the bottom coupling spring and remove both brake shoes. If the semi-axis is removed, this work is carried out without difficulties. In most cases the semi-axis in these cases does not act in film. And then blocks are taken out through a nave and a brake board.
13. At once fix a rubber tape the piston of the wheel cylinder, having excluded possibility of its exit. Not to press at all a brake pedal since the piston can jump out.

As both brake shoes are removed, it is necessary to mark them not to confuse at installation.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Carefully clear details.
2. Check a condition of caps of wheel cylinders. At detection of traces of liquid on the wheel cylinder, the last is under repair or replaced.
3. The deformed and weak springs replace, since they create non-uniform pressing of brake shoes.
4. Carefully clear places of contact of brake shoes with a brake board and grease with heat-resistant greasing.

New brake shoes can be with the established lever of a drive of the parking brake or without it. In the latter case the lever is necessary for rearranging from an old brake. Fastening of the lever can be carried out or by means of a finger with a lock ring, or klepky. In the latter case it is necessary рассверлить a rivet.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove from the wheel cylinder a rubber ring, establish the first block and fix an anchor pin and other details in sequence, return to removal.
2. Establish the mechanism of adjustment and the second block.
3. Enter into support the ends of both brake shoes and press inside the lever of a drive of the parking brake so that it was possible to hook for it on a cable.
4. After that displace the lever outside. The pin should be in the lever opposite to an edge of brake shoes.
5. Flat-nose pliers establish the bottom coupling spring.
6. Hook on the top coupling spring. Pay attention to how the spring end is hooked from the adjustment mechanism.
7. Now it is possible to establish a brake drum. If it does not enter on a brake shoe, blocks can be compressed by means of an adjusting bar.
8. After installation of brake drums ask the assistant to press a brake pedal, listening to a brake. Click in a drum testifies to the correct operation of the adjusting mechanism.
9. Adjust the parking brake.

Brake shoes should be earned extra to a drum. Therefore in an initial stage of operation it is not necessary to press a brake pedal sharply.

Wheel cylinder

For repair of the wheel cylinder there is a repair kit. Compare details of a repair kit to the removed details to exclude a mistake at assembly.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift a back part of the car and establish on supports.
2. Unscrew nuts and remove a wheel.
3. Remove a brake drum. It will provide the best access to the wheel cylinder.
4. In an impellent compartment unscrew a tank cover on the main brake cylinder.
5. Put polyethylene on a mouth and wrap a cover. It will expel an effluence of brake liquid from system.
6. Unscrew a cap nut of the brake pipeline from a reverse side of a brake board and disconnect the pipeline.
7. Carefully take the pipeline aside.
8. The end of a pipe stick with a tape for a hit exception in dirt system.
9. Unscrew bolts of fastening of the cylinder and take out the cylinder from outer side.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On an illustration the Scheme of assembly of the wheel cylinder is shown the scheme of assembly of the wheel cylinder. After removal of one of protective caps pistons leave the cylinder under the influence of a spring. If it does not occur, knock with the cylinder on wooden whetstone.
2. Remove cuffs. Pay attention to their situation.
3. Carefully clear and check all details. In the presence of cracks and задиров on a working surface of the cylinder it is necessary to replace it. At replacement of any detail it is necessary to establish all repair kit.
4. Grease with brake liquid or greasing of a cuff and insert the first cuff a working edge into the cylinder.
5. Grease the piston and insert it, having pressed to a cuff.
6. On the other hand insert a returnable spring and enter into the cylinder the second cuff.
7. Insert the second piston, watching to squeezing out the first piston.
8. From both parties establish on pistons and the cylinder case protective caps.
9. Clear the cylinder of brake liquid or greasing.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish the wheel cylinder outside on a brake board.
2. From within screw bolts of fastening and tighten them the moment of 10 Nanometers.
3. Attach to the cylinder the pipeline and tighten a cap nut the moment of 16 Nanometers. The carving of a nut has a small step. Therefore it is careful наворачивайте and tighten it.
4. Carefully connect brake shoes to the wheel cylinder.
5. Establish a brake drum as it is described above.
6. Remove from a tank mouth polyethylene.
7. Remove air from brake system as it is described below.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF THE BRAKE BOARD

For removal of a brake board it is necessary to remove a brake drum, brake shoes and the wheel cylinder. The description of these works is provided in the corresponding subsections.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a cable of a drive of the lever of the parking brake.
2. Unscrew bolts and remove a semi-axis with a brake board from a semi-axis casing as it is described in Head Brake system
3. After assembly remove air from brake system and adjust the parking brake.
