Anti-blocking system (ABS)

GENERAL INFORMATION

ABS consists of the electronic control unit, the sensors located on wheels, the hydraulic unit, valves and the relay.
The ABS block is located between the main brake cylinder and brakes. Existence of ABS does not influence a design of the vacuum amplifier and the main brake cylinder.

Sensors of forward wheels settle down in rotary fists, as shown. They supervise number of turns of wheels of the car through the gear wreaths established on forward drives.
Sensors of back wheels fasten to a beam of the back bridge, as shown.

At emergence of malfunctions in work of ABS it is necessary to address in the repair truck of Opel firm having special diagnostic equipment. If ABS signaling device lights up, movement can be continued, but the system thus does not work.

REPLACEMENT OF SENSORS OF ANGULAR SPEED OF FORWARD WHEELS

Sensors of forward wheels act in film and established as follows:

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a weight cable from the storage battery.
2. Lift and establish a forward part of the car on supports.
3. Remove a wheel, having provided possibility of access to a sensor cable.
4. Take out shtekerny connection in a wheel casing from the holder and расстыкуйте it by means of a screw-driver.
5. If there are some shtekerny connections, find out, what of them treats the ABS sensor.
6. Disconnect a cable from fastening.
7. Turn out a face key a bolt of fastening of the sensor and carefully a screw-driver separate it.

Installation

The sensor in sequence is established, to return to removal.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. A bolt of fastening tighten the moment of 9 Nanometers.
2. Watch to overwinding a sensor cable. The cable has marking in the form of the white line.
3. At an inhaling of bolts of fastening of a cable pay attention to the various moments of an inhaling.
4. The bolt of fastening of the bottom cable fastens the moment of 27 Nanometers., top cable moment of 6 Nanometers.
5. Watch that the sensor of number of turns was not polluted or damaged.
6. After completion of works establish the ignition key into position and check, that the signaling device of ABS was switched off.

REPLACEMENT OF SENSORS OF ANGULAR SPEED OF BACK WHEELS

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a weight cable from the storage battery, lift and establish a back part of the car on supports.
2. Find a cable of the sensor and расстыкуйте shtekerny connection, disconnect a cable from fastening.
3. Turn out the sensor. The sensor arrangement on a back suspension bracket is shown on an illustration.

Installation

The sensor in sequence is established, to return to removal.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Watch to overwinding a cable at accession. For the correct laying the cable has marking in the form of the white line.
2. Bolts of fastening of the sensor tighten the moment of 22 Nanometers, bolts of fastening of a cable the moment of 27 Nanometers.

INSTRUCTIONS ON SENSORS OF ANGULAR SPEED OF WHEELS

The sensor of angular speed of a wheel consists of the magnetic core and the coil. The principle of operation of the sensor is explained by the scheme on an illustration.

The ledge of a polar tip is surrounded with a magnetic field. In the course of rotation teeths of a gear rotor cross a magnetic field. It leads to distortion weeding that in turn displays an alternating voltage in the sensor coil. Frequency of change of tension corresponds to number of turns of a wheel. The relevant information arrives in the control unit.
Gear rotors (differently they are called by pulse rings) have 54 teeth. In front rotors fasten three bolts to knot inside a nave / a brake disk. Behind gear rotors напрессованы on drives.

REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTOR OF THE SENSOR OF THE FORWARD WHEEL

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a forward nave as it is described in appropriate section.
2. Remove a rotor from the interior of a wheel nave.
3. If the removed rotor is established back, it is necessary to check surfaces of teeths. They should not have damages.
4. At installation bolts tighten the moment of 18 Nanometers.

REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTOR OF THE SENSOR OF THE BACK WHEEL

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift and establish a back part of the car on supports.
2. Remove a back drive as it is described in appropriate section.
3. Remove and establish a gear rotor in connection with replacement of the bearing of a drive.
