Injection system - the general information

GENERAL INFORMATION

Cars are equipped with the following systems of injection.
The engine of 2.0 l with eight valves (OHC) is equipped with system of multiitem injection of production of Bosch firm of the Motronic M1.5 type. From the middle of 1995 the new system of the Motronic M1.5.4 type is established. It represents a uniform control system of the engine. In engines of this type the new system of a retsirutslyatsiya of the fulfilled gases (EGR) which to 15 % of the fulfilled gases sends to chambers of combustion of the engine is established. All series of engines of 2.4 l is equipped with the specified system of injection.
The new engine of 2.2 l (DOHC) belonging to the ECOTEC series with 16 valves, is equipped with multiitem system of injection, Motronic 15.4 execution. The engine has regulation on detonations, system of a retsirkulyatsiya of the fulfilled gases with electronic control, and system of a podmeshivaniye of secondary air. It is necessary to mean that since 1997 this system is not established.
Though, as it was already told, repair work with system of injection is not carried out, the description of basic elements of system here is provided. The Motronic M1.5.4 system description is generally provided. The description of older systems of injection is provided also.
For carrying out any works according to the provided instructions it is necessary to have a certain experience of work with systems of injection and the related systems of ignition. We do not bear any responsibility for any damages, able to arise owing to unqualified intervention in system elements.

BOSCH М1 5.4 SYSTEM

The cable plait attached to the engine has many sockets of a various form. If in the course of work disconnect more than one tip, it is necessary to mark as appropriate them, especially, if tips are nearby.
The following below the description of some works is given in a short form. Special knowledge is necessary for their carrying out. Works on replacement of some parts are described.
The system of injection works in common with static ignition and the detonation sensor. The electronic control unit regulates structure of a mix and ignition.
The amount of injected fuel depends on duration of opening of the gate of injection. Duration of injection depends on engine loading (the pressure sensor), number of turns of the engine (the flywheel sensor) and other factors of a condition of the engine.

Butterfly valve potentiometer


If to look in front, the potentiometer (1) is on the left wall of an impellent compartment, to the right of the shock-absorber. For its removal расстыкуйте shtekerny connection and, having unscrewed fastening bolts (иллюстр.).
Before installation attach a butterfly valve. Check, that the potentiometer correctly sat on a butterfly valve shaft. Join shtekerny connection.

Regulator of pressure of fuel


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Pressure in fuel system should be removed with observance specified above precautionary measures.
2. Disconnect a vacuum hose from a regulator of pressure and remove a collar from a regulator of pressure and the fuel distributive highway. The regulator of pressure is from a reverse side of the engine.
3. Check, how the regulator of pressure of fuel (1) is established and take out it upward from the fuel distributive highway, as is shown in иллюстр. Sealing rings are on a pressure regulator.
4. Sealing rings before installation of a regulator grease with impellent oil and enter a regulator into the fuel distributive highway so that it occupied the former situation. Fix a regulator and put on a vacuum hose.

Replacement of gates of injection (injectors)


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Dump pressure in system.
2. Disconnect топливопроводы in places (1) and (2), as is shown in иллюстр.
3. Disconnect an acceleration drive at the butterfly valve case. Disconnect a support from the inlet pipeline and put aside.
4. Disconnect two vacuum hoses, one from the inlet pipeline, another from a regulator of pressure of fuel.
5. Remove a fixing finger at the fuel distributive highway. He is visible not at once and is near the butterfly valve case.
6. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection of gates of injection.
7. Unscrew a nut of a cable of weight from a bolt of fastening and remove a cable. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of the fuel distributive highway.
8. Take out the fuel distributive highway (1) together with injection gates (иллюстр.). For replacement of the gate of injection take away a clip.

Installation is carried out in sequence, return to removal. The fuel distributive highway fastens the moment of 8 Nanometers, a weight cable the moment of 7 Nanometers. Again attach топливопроводы. Fix a support of a drive of gas two bolts.

Replacement of a measuring instrument of amount of air


The measuring instrument of amount of air is directly ahead of the air filter and is inserted into soaking-up hose.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove collars (1) and the tip (2) on иллюстр.
2. Remove a measuring instrument of amount of air from a soaking-up hose. In the presence of external damages it is necessary to replace it. On a measuring instrument it is put the shooter specifying the direction of a stream of air. Hoses should be attached tightly.

Replacement of the sensor of oxygen

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The sensor of oxygen is in a reception pipe of the exhaust silencer and can be turned out after undocking shtekerny (at a transmission) connections. Before sensor installation the connecting carving should be greased with special greasing. The sensor is tightened by the moment of 30 Nanometers. Watch that wires of the sensor did not adjoin to a reception pipe of the exhaust silencer and could not fray about elements of the chassis of the car.

Idling regulator

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The regulator of idling (1) is in a place shown on иллюстр., on the butterfly valve case also fastens two bolts. Before removal расстыкуйте shtekerny connection. The regulator has consolidation which it is necessary to establish correctly.

The sensor of temperature of soaked-up air

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The sensor will screw in a hose of soaked-up air near an entrance in the air filter.
After undocking of shtekerny connection and removal of a hose of soaked-up air the sensor can be squeezed out by a sharp subject (for example, a knife) from a hose. Before sensor installation into place check a hose condition. Establish into place all removed details.

The sensor of temperature of cooling liquid

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Replacement of this sensor is rather labor-consuming, as access to it is not convenient. It is screwed in the thermostat case (иллюстр.). To reach the sensor (1), it is necessary to remove maple a belt and the generator (to remove aside), to disunite shtekerny connections on a hose of absorption of air, a hose of absorption of air between the case of the air filter and the case of a butterfly valve and the temperature sensor. After that turn out the sensor. The new sensor fastens the moment of 8 Nanometers. The removed details are established in return sequence.

Bosch М1 5.4 system for the DOHC engine

1. The instructions provided here concern only the differences which are taking place for this engine. If the description of any work is not provided, means that it is carried out similarly, described above. It is necessary to mean that some elements of system of injection here are on other places that does not correspond to the given illustrations.

Butterfly valve potentiometer

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. At the DOHC engine the potentiometer is established in a place shown on иллюстр. For removal расстыкуйте shtekerny connection (1) potentiometer (2) also remove a potentiometer, having unscrewed bolts.
Before installation attach a butterfly valve. Be convinced that the potentiometer correctly sits on a butterfly valve. Join shtekerny connection.

Regulator of pressure of fuel

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove pressure in fuel system, observing precautionary measures. The regulator is in the center of hoses and a hose of soaked-up air. Removal and installation is made according to earlier provided description.

Replacement of gates of injection (injectors)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Work much more labor-consuming, than at the engine of 2.0 l, as demands carrying out a certain preparation to reach the fuel distributive highway and injection gates. For this reason the real work here is not described.

Replacement of a measuring instrument of amount of air


The measuring instrument is directly ahead of the air filter and is inserted into a hose of absorption of air. Removal and installation is made according to иллюстр.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a collar (1) from a hose of absorption of air.
2. Disconnect a hose of selection of karterny gases in a point (2).
3. Remove a collar (3) from the resonator of soaked-up air.
4. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection (4) sensors of temperature of soaked-up air.
5. Disconnect a hose of soaked-up air (5) from the case of a butterfly valve and a measuring instrument of amount of air (6).
6. Weaken a collar (7) hoses of soaked-up air.
7. Remove a measuring instrument of amount of air from the case of the air filter. The measuring instrument is replaced in a set.

Installation of a measuring instrument is carried out in sequence, return to its removal. Connections carry out according to иллюстр. above.

ENGINE OF 2.0 L

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a weight cable from the storage battery.
2. Remove listed below a part in the specified sequence: vacuum hose of the amplifier of a brake, damper of a butterfly valve and idling regulator. Instructions on removal of the listed parts are provided in the corresponding subsections.
3. Remove a screw-driver four clips of gates of injection, as is shown in иллюстр.
4. Remove the fuel distributive highway and its fastening.
5. Take out injection gates from the fuel distributive highway.

At installation:

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Gates of injection establish with new consolidations.
2. Establish fastening and the fuel distributive highway.
3. Other parts are established in sequence, return to their removal.

ENGINE OF 2.4 L

At this engine gates of injection act in film in pairs.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection also disconnect топливопроводы from the fuel distributive highway.
2. Remove the fuel distributive highway and injection gates. Gates are taken out from the highway. They fasten brackets.

Installation is carried out in return sequence.

Replacement of a potentiometer of a butterfly valve

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. At the engine of 2.0 l the potentiometer is in a place shown on иллюстр. After undocking of shtekerny connection the potentiometer can be turned out. At the engine of 2.4 l it fastens two screws.

Replacement of a measuring instrument of an air stream

In the considered device of injection instead of a measuring instrument of amount of air the measuring instrument of volume of air is applied. Zaslonka of a measuring instrument moves according to volume of soaked-up air. Moving of a zaslonka will be transformed to the corresponding electric signal. Arrangements of a measuring instrument of volume of air of the engine of 2.0 l it is shown on иллюстр. below. At the engine of 2.4 l the measuring instrument is located a little differently.
Replacement of a measuring instrument of volume of air is carried out as follows:

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection also remove a hose of soaking-up air. Remove the top part of the air filter. If it is necessary, release for this purpose four clips.
2. At the engine of 2.0 l uncover a measuring instrument and remove a measuring instrument (4 screws of fastening), at the engine of 2.4 l remove a measuring instrument from the top part of the air filter.
3. Remove the inlet pipeline (the engine of 2.0 l) and take out a measuring instrument.
4. Establish a new measuring instrument in the correct situation, grease four screws with means for fixing of a carving and fix a measuring instrument.
5. Establish a measuring instrument cover, an inlet knee, the top part of the air filter, a hose of absorption of air and join shtekerny connection.

Replacement of a regulator of pressure


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Appearance of a regulator of pressure for the engine of 2.0 l is shown on иллюстр. At the engine of 2.4 l it has a similar appearance. The regulator of pressure is easily replaced after a detachment of vacuum and fuel hoses.

Replacement of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The sensor is in the inlet pipeline and can be turned out after undocking of shtekerny connection. Cooling liquid thus follows. The sensor fastens the moment of 10 Nanometers.
At the engine of 2.4 l disconnect a hose of cooling liquid from the inlet pipeline. Cooling liquid should be merged in capacity. The sensor is disconnected after undocking of shtekerny connection. Fix the sensor the moment of 10 Nanometers, join shtekerny connection and fill in liquid in system.

Replacement of a regulator of idling

The regulator of idling represents the detail of a round form being directly about designation of "OHC" on the top party of the engine. For its replacement расстыкуйте shtekerny connection, weaken collars, remove hoses and unscrew fastening screws.
The sensor in sequence is established, to return to removal.
