Suspension bracket of back wheels and back bridge

GENERAL INFORMATION

There are two options of a design of a back suspension bracket for Frontera. The car to the middle of 1995 of release has a rigid axis on flat springs and hydraulic shock-absorbers. On later models the back suspension bracket with four cross-section levers and screw springs and gas-filled shock-absorbers was entered.
The description of old model of a suspension bracket here is not provided. The description of the new suspension bracket having more difficult design below is given.

Longitudinal levers of a suspension bracket are executed from pipes. Short, located in the center over a differential case the lever, serves for perception of the loadings arising in the course of braking and dispersal. Lateral fastening is carried out by means of draft of the cross-section lever, the so-called cross-section jet bar fixed by one end behind on the right to the bridge, and other end at the left to the chassis.
The suspension bracket has the stabilizer of cross-section stability established on rubber plugs before the bridge and connected with the bridge by connecting bars with spherical hinges.

Levers and cross-section jet bar have the rubber plugs possessing the minimum friction that provides free moving of a suspension bracket at car arrival on various roughnesses of the road. The bridge and a suspension bracket are shown on an illustration.

Two various driveshafts are applied to a drive of the back bridge. At three-door cars the driveshaft whole. At cars with the increased base (5 doors) the driveshaft, two-piece, having an intermediate support is applied.
Besides, there is a difference in a design of the back brake mechanism. Drum-type and disk brakes that influences performance of some works are applied.

At performance of repair work it is necessary to take into consideration distinction in a design of a back suspension bracket. If in the text there are no corresponding instructions, works for both executions of a suspension bracket are carried out equally.

At works on a back suspension bracket it is necessary to be guided by the instructions provided in the beginning of the section "Suspension bracket of forward wheels". It is worth to remember about need of reliable fixing of the car.

REMOVAL AND CARTER BRIDGE INSTALLATION

In the description provided below it is necessary to distinguish cars with a suspension bracket on flat springs and a suspension bracket with screw springs. Previously it is necessary to find out, what type of the car at you.

Back part of the car lift and establish on supports. Unscrew bolts of fastening and remove both wheels.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Unscrew a stopper of a tank of brake liquid, close an opening polyethylene and again close a stopper. Thus it is possible to keep from an effluence the main part of liquid when opening brake system.
2. Unscrew two bolts of fastening of the buffer to an arm on the chassis shown by shooters, and remove the buffer.
3. Weaken nuts on the end of the equalizer of the parking brake to deduce from gearing with the equalizer the ends of cables.
4. Disconnect both cables.
5. Take out lock plates from an arm on the chassis and remove cables down. Fastening of cables on the equalizer is shown on an illustration.
6. Disconnect connecting drafts of a regulator of pressure of a brake from the back bridge. For this purpose расшплинтуйте connection also unscrew a koronchaty nut.
7. Do not disconnect an arm from the bridge.
8. Unscrew a cap nut of connection of a brake hose with the brake pipeline and take out the pipeline.
9. Close the pipeline end from dirt hit (for example, a sticky tape).
10. Now the brake hose can be disconnected from a square.
11. Take out an opravka and flat-nose pliers a lock plate.
12. Mark with paint both of a flange of connection of the driveshaft, as shown, and unscrew four bolts and nuts (previously let's to paint dry).
13. Disconnect the driveshaft from a bridge flange, having propped up a shaft that it did not fall. It is possible to fix a shaft a wire to the chassis or to enclose something from below.
14. Bring under the bridge the garage lift and raise the bridge so that shock-absorbers were compressed.
15. Disconnect the bottom fastenings of shock-absorbers from basic pins on linings of step-ladders.
16. Unscrew nuts of fastening of step-ladders from the bottom side of the bridge.
17. Remove washers and beat out carefully step-ladders up. Not to warp step-ladders strike blows evenly on the right and at the left. Watch to damaging a carving.
18. Separate the back bridge from the chassis by means of the assistant. Watch that cables of the parking brake did not get confused.
19. Lower the bridge on the lift.

Installation

At installation of the bridge keep in mind the following:

Check a condition of step-ladders. Step-ladders after their removal "disperse". Therefore it is necessary to check, whether step-ladder cores enter into openings on the bridge. If is not present, one core of a step-ladder is clamped in a vice, and the second is carefully turned in.

Can happen that at installation of the new bridge it is necessary to transfer a brake hose and the pipeline, and also cables of a drive of the parking brake from the old bridge.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Put the bridge on the chassis and connect it to springs.
2. Check, that the center bolt of springs entered into the corresponding openings of the bridge.
3. Insert from above step-ladders.
4. From below establish and fix bolts of a lining of step-ladders. The basic pin of the shock-absorber on a step-ladder should be turned inside, as shown.
5. Screw four nuts and evenly cross-wise press out them.
6. Fix the shock-absorber from below. The arrangement of details of fastening is shown on an illustration.
7. Do not forget to establish a spring washer.
8. Nuts tighten the moment of 40 Nanometers.
9. Establish the buffer.
10. Bolts of fastening tighten the moment of 42 Nanometers.
11. Fix a hose of ventilation of the bridge.
12. Connect flanges of the driveshaft and a leading gear wheel of the main transfer according to marking and insert new bolts. Old bolts are not established.
13. Nuts tighten the moment of 75 Nanometers.
14. Establish connecting drafts of a regulator of pressure of a brake, having put a washer and a spring washer.
15. The Koronchaty nut tighten by hand.
16. Yet шплинтуйте.
17. Fix a brake hose on a square and put a spring clip. Watch the correct provision of a hose.
18. Screw and tighten a cap nut of the brake pipeline.
19. Fix cables of a drive of the parking brake according to an illustration lock plates on the chassis.
20. Lower the car on wheels and evenly cross-wise tighten nuts of fastening of step-ladders of springs the moment of 68 Nanometers.
21. Tighten a koronchaty nut of drafts of a regulator of pressure of a brake the moment of 13 Nanometers and зашплинтуйте.
22. In summary remove air from brake system as it is described in Chapter 9.
23. Turn out a stopper from the bridge and check oil level. If necessary add oil. If oil merged from the bridge, it is necessary to fill in it again.

Cars with screw springs of a suspension bracket

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Unscrew a stopper of a tank of brake liquid, close an opening polyethylene and again wrap a stopper. Thus the effluence of the main part of oil from brake system is prevented.
2. Bring under the central part of the back bridge the lift and slightly raise the bridge.
3. Weaken nuts on the end of the equalizer of the parking brake to deduce from gearing with the equalizer the ends of cables.
4. Disconnect both cables.
5. Take out lock plates from an arm on the chassis and remove cables down.
6. Fastening of cables on the car equalizer with sheet springs is shown on an illustration. This fastening at the three-door car in the same way looks. At the five-door car fastening has a similar appearance.
7. Disconnect cables of a drive of the parking brake from an arm on the chassis. Fastening is carried out by four lock plates with bolts.
8. Unscrew a cap nut of connection of a brake hose with the brake pipeline and take out the pipeline.
9. Close the pipeline end from dirt hit (for example, a sticky tape).
10. Now the brake hose can be disconnected from a square.
11. Take out an opravka and flat-nose pliers a lock plate.
12. Mark with paint both of a flange of connection of the driveshaft, as shown, and unscrew four bolts and nuts (previously let's to paint dry).
13. Disconnect the driveshaft from a flange of a leading gear wheel of the main transfer of the bridge, having propped up a shaft that it did not fall. It is possible to fix a shaft a wire to the chassis or to enclose something from below.
14. Disconnect connecting bars of a regulator of pressure of a brake from an arm on the back bridge. Fastening is shown on an illustration.
15. The following works are carried out according to an illustration on both parties of the car. At first disconnect cables of a drive of the parking brake, having taken out lock plates (1). Unscrew nuts of fastening of connecting drafts of the stabilizer of cross-section stability (2) and, having unscrewed a nut (3) and having removed a washer from a pin, remove the shock-absorber.
16. Disconnect from the bridge a ventilating hose.
17. Slowly lower the lift, having released shock-absorbers.
18. Take out springs and the top isolating laying of springs.
19. Unscrew a fastening nut from a basic pin and remove the cross-section jet bar shown on an illustration.
20. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of a cable of the sensor of angular speed of ABS on the average lever. Connection and a cable are fixed by Shtekernoye also on the chassis.
21. For a detachment unscrew a bolt (3) shown on an illustration. Now the average lever of the bridge can be disconnected. For this purpose unscrew a bolt (1) and a nut.
22. Disconnect the longitudinal lever from the bridge. For this purpose unscrew two bolts with nuts on each party of the car. Carefully beat out bolts. As now the bridge does not fasten, it is necessary for insuring on the lift by means of the assistant.
23. Carefully roll out the bridge on the lift from under the car.

Installation

Installation of the bridge is carried out in sequence, return to removal. Thus it is necessary to mean the following:

Can happen that at installation of the new bridge it is necessary to transfer brake hoses and pipelines, and also cables of a drive of the parking brake from the old bridge.

The assembly elements having a rubber covering, should not be exposed to influence of lubricants. It is impossible to hold also lubricants near the specified places.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Bolts and nuts of fastening of all assembly elements having a rubber covering, at first tighten by hand.
2. After car lowering on wheels the specified connections tighten the established moments.
3. Bring the back bridge on the lift under the car (thus the bridge should keep) and stop it near the ends of longitudinal levers.
4. Connect both longitudinal levers in the places shown on an illustration.
5. As it was specified above, tighten only by hand. Longitudinal levers should move.
6. Again establish the average lever according to an illustration.
7. Fix ABS cable to the lever and tighten a bolt of an arm of the ABS tip the moment of 26 Nanometers.
8. A bolt and a nut of fastening of the average lever yet do not tighten.
9. Establish a cross-section jet bar according to an illustration. Under a nut there should be a washer. A nut yet do not tighten.
10. Establish screw springs with the top isolating laying on the bridge.
11. Slowly lift the bridge, watching the correct provision of springs below and above.
12. Lift now the bridge so that springs were clamped.
13. Establish on the bridge the shock-absorber. The nut (3) wells up with a washer. Connecting bars (2) fasten on the bridge nuts. Cables of the parking brake fasten to the longitudinal lever clips (1) and bolts (9 Nanometers).
14. Connect drafts of a regulator of pressure of a brake to the bridge.
15. Fix a brake hose on a corner, insert the brake pipeline and fix it.
16. Fix cables of the parking brake on chassis arms.
17. Tighten all bolts the moment of 9 Nanometers.
18. Attach cables of the parking brake to the equalizer and fix brackets to the lower part of the chassis.
19. Connect a driveshaft flange to a flange of a leading gear wheel of the main transfer according to marking.
20. Insert new bolts and tighten them the moment of 75 Nanometers.
21. Establish and fix back wheels.
22. Lower the car on wheels.
23. Elements of fastening the suspension brackets having rubber details, tighten now the following moments.
24. In summary tighten bolts of fastening of a brake drum.
25. Remove air from brake system as it is described in Chapter 9.
26. Adjust the parking brake.
27. Check oil level in the back bridge (Chapter 1). If necessary add oil.
